I met John when I started at Clairton Junior High as a counselor in 1969. I must say that I did not know that he was just a year behind us at CHS. He was teaching math at the time. John was definitely one of the "solid" teachers there. Very sad that he passed at such a young age.

Margaret and family,
My heartfelt sympathy to you all. He was blessed to have all of you in his life and I know he is forever grateful for you all. We had many talks and above everything you were all his first concern. I pray God will grant you all the strength to endure his loss. Hold on to your sweet memories! As a co- worker and then boss...he was the best! And to him I say..."Hi yo Kimosabe! You will forever be missed!"

As an educator myself, I have admired Dr. Ogurchak's dedication to the children in the Clairton schools. In addition to reading about his accomplishments in the Daily News, I had the pleasure of working with him as a tutor in a reading program at Clairton Elementary. Dr. Ogurchak took all the tutors on a tour of Clairton to show us some history of the city and where our students lived. He loved Clairton unselfishly and it was a great loss when he retired. What a wonderful role model for young professionals today. Rest in God's peace, Dr. Ogurchak: Well Done!!!!

I remember "Johnny" as a boy living at the top of Eighth Street with his parents and sisters. I delivered The Daily News to their house. Our sled rides down Eighth Street began outside his house. I watched his career in Education progressed as he moved from teacher to Superintendent. He was a good person. May he rest in peace.
