In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy an outer burial container, also called a vault, to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so the grave will hold its integrity and not begin to sink. Stainless Steel - 12 Gauge stainless steel vault made of type 304 stainless steel with 18% chromium and 8% nickel content for premium rust resistance, over four pounds of stainless steel per square foot, seals on diving bell principle, weighs approximately 425 lbs., rose finish featuring brushed panels and bands on the sides and ends.
