I have been trying to find an acquaintance named Jerry Lucarelli for some time. I went to West Liberty State College in the early 70's with him in the music department. Jerry was a great sax player and was an inspiration to me on the Hammond B-3. I even got to fill in for him at a show in Pittsburgh. Seem to recall the Hammond was covered in a lion or leopard skin finish. I always wanted to thank him for the things he taught me about the B-3 and music in general. If this obituary is for the Jerry I knew, I wish his family my condolences. He was a beautiful talented soul.

If this obituary is for someone other than the Jerry I knew, I still extend my condolences along with an apology for taking your time.

Hi Sally,

Again, so sorry for your loss, I know how much you meant to Jerry, you changed his life big time! I thank you for that.

I will truly miss my very talented Italian friend dearly. "The Stroller" was always one of my favorite people on the planet. Our times spent together in the Third Army Band in Atlanta provided some of the best, and funniest, memorable, moments of my life.

I'm so sorry I couldn't attend the services, I just couldn't work it out. Please stay in touch and let me know how you are faring. And please convey my heartfelt condolences to Bro Lou. I know he must be devastated.

May "The Stroller" rest in peace!

Mucho love,

Ted

Dear Sally and Family,

Jerry was a major influence and great help to me coming out of a long musical retirement. I would have been able to achieve very little without his help and the many opportunities he provided me.
Nina and I both share in your loss and promise to keep in touch.

Jerry , Karen and family,
Both Carrie and I are sorry to hear of you loss. I think it takes a while to see straight when you lose a parent, and especially someone as obviously kind as you Dad. In addition to our sincere sympathy a contribution is being made in memory of your Dad for the benefit of those still dealing with cancer.

Dear Sally and Family,
What a privilege it was for us to have Jerry (and you, Sally) as our friends for so many years. I will never forget when I joined the St. Thomas A' Becket choir. At the time Jerry was the choir director. He learned quickly that I could not read music and that I would soon become his 'challenged' member of the choir. "Sherri, did you get that note" he would say to me and we would laugh and I would say "sure, Jer" (and I really did not get the note). He was the best at what he did. He taught us to sing like angels while having so much fun doing it. He (and you, Sallly) invited us to your home for a Christmas party one year and he brought out his 'button box' - - which he hated to play. Jerry had a beautiful picture of St. Cecelia, patron saint of music, in our choir loft and now, my dear friend who I loved very much, is playing the harp with her behind those golden gates. Such a loss of a wonderful, kind, caring, happy and loving man. Mike and I want to extend our sincerest sympathy to you, Sally, and your entire family. May his souls rest in peace.

I was lucky enough to have a few mentors cross my path and help direct me to becoming the best that I could be as a musician and as a person. Jerry was one of the most important of those guides. Jerry helped change my life. He was always nurturing, supportive, funny, but ready to kick my behind if I was getting off of the path. That is what great teachers do! If what we as human beings strive for is to make a difference in other's lives, Jerry succeeded with me. Sally , Lou and the rest of the family, you have me and my family's sympathy and condolences. Peace.

To Sally, I wish you comfort from family and friends. Gayle enjoyed Jerry when he was working at Clairton HS, especially the day he introduced the very young students what jazz is and when to clap, and how the children loved it. Fred and Gayle have also enjoyed a few of his performances. We're so sorry to hear of his passing.BTW Gayle just learned he was born approximately one month younger than Gayle, both 74. Bless him, bless you.

Mr. Lucarelli was my children's choir teacher growing up (from second to eighth grade - I'm 30 now) and he had a very significant and positive impact on my life. To his family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I hope that you are able to find some comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in the many, many lives he has touched, especially through music. God bless all of you.

Dearest Sally,
When we think of Jerry, the word passion comes to mind. He had passion for you and for his family, his teaching and music, and his beloved horse. Everything he did, he did well, and we were all proud of his accomplishments. We will miss many things about Jerry, but most of all we will miss his humor and quick wit. We always had a good time when we got together. We are here for you, and we love you.

Sally and family,
With heartfelt sympathy to you on the loss of your husband; and, to the family on the loss of a father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Jerry's life was a legacy...one way was his love for music. His musical talents were a gift that he shared with everyone around him...with his family, in churches, and in a band that he was in with his brothers. God chose him to be one of his angels in order to share the beautiful sounds and harmony that he played through songs. May you hear him playing his melodies as you remember the wonderful times that you shared; and, also know that his love abides in your hearts forever.
Our deepest condolences,
Maryann and Jan Rihs
