Richard J. Sharpless

Richard J. Sharpless, age 82, of Lincoln Borough, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at home. He was a retired manager for Allegheny Raw Materials (formerly SIMS Metal Management Co. and Charles Bluestone Co.) in Lincoln Borough. He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. Born January 16, 1935 in Oakland, MD, he was a son of the late William McKinley and Frances (Paugh) Sharpless and husband of the late Dorothy M. (Wolfe) Sharpless. He is survived by daughters, Sherry (Tom) Baker of Port Vue, Cynthia (Richard) Kliment of Auburn, CA, and Lori (Chuck Metzger of Boardman, OH) Sharpless of Elizabeth; son, Rick Sharpless of Fountaintown, IN; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Skotniski of Willowick, OH, and Dorothy (Robert) Harvey of Kitzmiller, MD; brother, William "Buck" Sharpless of Irwin; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Carlton Foy, and sister, Emma "Aunt Sis" Paugh. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 Noon. Private interment in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
