Patricia Jane (Long) Bornyas

October 7, 1928 ~ January 16, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Patricia J. Bornyas, 89, of Elizabeth Twp. and formerly of Liberty Borough and Duquesne, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.  Born October 7, 1928 in Duquesne, she was the third daughter and eighth out of twelve children of the late Francis P. Long and Henrietta V. (Weir) Long.  Patricia was a former employee of J.C. Murphy Company Home Offices and an office clerk/manager for Long’s Hauling Company, Inc. for over fifty years.  Following the canon code of the Catholic Church, Patricia was baptized a Roman Catholic but became a Byzantine Catholic upon marriage.  She was a member of the former Transfiguration of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church where she served as a trustee, a member and officer of the Ladies Guide and a member of the Activities Club.  In 1985, Patricia was a recipient of a Protopresbytery (Deanery) Award from the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy (Archdiocese) of Pittsburgh for her years of dedicated service to the church.  She currently is a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.  Patricia was active in the St. Nicholas School and Mon Yough Catholic (St. Peter’s) High School parent organizations.  She also was a former member of the St. Perpetual Bowling League and a member of the Postal Employees Wife Guide.  Patricia was the wife of the late Stephen Bornyas, mother to the late Stephen “Butch” Bornyas, Jr., Virginia B. Junewicz (James) of Kenilworth, IL, and Dr. John M. Bornyas of Pittsburgh, grandmother of Megan Morgan (Michael), Fai Murphy (Dennis), Laura (Josh Fandry), Pamela (John Joshson), Stephen John (Maggie Gilbert) Bornyas, Dr. Alexandra, Nikola, and Amanda Junewicz, Great Grandmother to Danielle, Steven and Beau Morgan, Grace and Nicholas Murphy and Jace Bornyas, sister to Louise M. (Kenneth) Peairs, Fredrick J. Long (Jane) of Duquesne, Robert T. Long of Elizabeth and the late Maj. John A., Timothy R. , Dr. Francis P. Long, Mary Margret Stewart, Hannah N. Thomas, Eugene P. , William J. and Richard M. “Mickey” Long, mother-in-law to Merilee Nuss Bornyas of Elizabeth Township, sister-in-law to Hilda H. Long of Colorado Springs and Marjorie L. Long of Cranberry Township, aunt to nieces and nephews and great aunt to great nieces and nephews.  Patricia was dedicated to the many familial roles she had throughout her lifetime and family was very important to her.  Many thanks to the wonderful caregivers over the years:  Sarah, Christine, Helen, Allegra and Bridge’s Hospice Services for their loving support and assistance.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday January 23 at the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home, 4504 Walnut Street, McKeesport (Versailles) with a Parastas Service at 4:00 PM.  Wednesday, January 24th at 10:00 am a small Panachida service at the funeral home followed with the Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church Shaw Avenue McKeesport with the Rev. Donald Voss officiating.  Graveside Interment will be at the McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, American Parkinson Association or a charity of choice.
