Thomas E. Hurst, age 73, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at home. A Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War, he was a retired school bus driver for the Elizabeth Forward School District. He was a member of AA with 32 years of sobriety. Born April 5, 1950 in Elizabeth Twp., he was a son of the late Fred E. and Virginia (Fichtner) Hurst. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Renee (Stewart) Hurst; sons, Jason (Heidi) Hurst of West Newton and Rev. August P. (Gretchen) Hurst of Volant; stepsons, Chad (Karen) Stewart of Finleyville and Kyle (Otilia) Stewart of Monessen; grandchildren, Autumn, Grayden, Genevieve, Jaxson, Jeremy and Arianah; sisters, Lois (the late Robert) Trow of New Alexandria and Janet (the late Thomas) Styche of Weedville; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, James Hurst, and niece, Amy Styche. No visitation is planned. A memorial service at Buena Vista United Presbyterian Church, 335 Styche Street, will take place Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1 PM with his son, the Rev. August P. Hurst officiating.
