Ruth E. (Lightfoot) Smith

Ruth E. (Lightfoot) Smith, age 80, of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at home. She retired as a nurses aide at Locust Grove in West Mifflin. She lived an exciting life as the wife whose husband was in the Air Force for 22 years. She started her career as a general nurse before working as a nurses aide and activities director. She loved her pets and loved to walk her dog and converse with the neighbors. Born August 24, 1940 in Bedford, England, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Winifred (Rudd) Lightfoot. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Howard J. Smith Jr.; son, Dean (Kathy) Smith of Glassport; daughter, Cheri (Tim) Smith-Dworek of Elizabeth; granddaughter, Courtney (Bill) Smith of Munhall; stepgranddaughter, Tiffany (Kana) Moy of Delmont; stepgrandson, Timmy Dworek of Sutersville; step great-granddaughters, Aliya, Audrey and Grace; her brother Mark (Lynn) Lightfoot of Bedford, UK; and also, numerous nieces and nephews in England as well as nieces and nephews on the Smith side and residing in the United States. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12 NOON in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
