Norma J. (Harclerode) Chalfant

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend: Norma J. Chalfont, age 94 and formerly of Jefferson Hills, Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in McMurray Hills Manor.  Born November 17, 1930 in Duquesne, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Jessie (Mowry) Harclerode.  Norma's life was filled with faith, music and service to others.  She was a long-time member of the former Grace United Church of Christ in Duquesne, where she was an organist, and worked as a salesperson for Fashion Hosiery in Pleasant Hills.  She was also the director of Clairton Meals on Wheels for more than thirty years.  Norma loved spending summers camping with her family at Laurel Mountain Campground in Donegal.  Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, the late Wilbur Chalfant, who passed away October 29, 1989; her son Mark A. Chalfant, who passed away May 23, 2020; and her siblings Robert Harclerode and Grace Edmonds.  She is survived by her daughter Cindy (John) Villella of Eighty Four; her daughter-in-law Diane Chalfant; her grandchildren Jessica (Shad) Wachter of North Strabane and Leslie (Michael) Salaj of South Park; her four cherished great-grandchildren Mikaela and Sophia Wachter and Tessa and Macie Salaj; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 3 PM until a 6 PM Funeral Service with Rev. Ronald Calabro officiating.  A graveside service will be held privately at Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manns Choice.
