Michael J. Shinavski

Michael J. Shinavski, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Jefferson Hospital. An Army veteran having served during the Korean War, he was a retired steelworker at US Steel National Tube in McKeesport and a former maintenance employee for the Elizabeth Forward School District. A member of Mary Mother of God Parish in White Oak, he liked hunting, fishing and the outdoors, and enjoyed going to the family camp in Tidioute. Born May 4, 1933 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Feltz) Shinavski and husband of the late Catherine A. (Pavol) Shinavski. He is survived by sons, Michael J. Shinavski of Elizabeth Twp. and Kenneth J. (Darla) Shinavski of Farmington; grandchildren, Katelyn, Eva, Laura and Julie; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Shinavski of South Park; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, David Shinavski. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10 AM at Corpus Christi Church in McKeesport with the Rev. Terry O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
