Mary Elaine Linkhauer, age 81, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at home. She was a retired medical technologist and professor at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Mercy. She was intelligent, independent and well-rounded, and never stopped learning. An avid reader, she was interested in architecture, enjoyed walking, and loved touring historic buildings. Born September 2, 1941 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Mary A. (Burger) Linkhauer. She is survived by her sisters, Judith Crislip of Pleasant Hills and Jean Linkhauer of Phoenix, AZ; also, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by companion, Ronald Smits. No visitation or services are planned.
