Kathleen LaVerne (Whitney) Shaner

Kathleen LaVerne (Whitney) Shaner, age 91 of Liberty Borough and formerly of McKeesport and Las Vegas, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at home. Born March 22, 1930 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late James and Nora (Graham) Whitney.  She worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney’s Company and was a member of St. Patrick Church (Mary Mother of God Parish) in McKeesport. Kathleen is survived by her husband Gerald K. Shaner; daughters Linda Lee Kenney of Louisville, KY, Cathy Jo (Denny) Burgman of Larimer, Debbie (Dennis) Caroselli of Las Vegas, NV, and Donna (John) Polakovic of White Oak; sons Gerald (Debbie) Shaner of Las Vegas, NV, Ronald (Roberta) Shaner of Las Vegas, NV, and Robert Shaner of Bellvue, NE; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Norma Whitney Dearfield of Cranberry Twp. and Janet Baum of Elizabeth Twp; and numerous nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers Jerry and James Whitney.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home & Crematory, Versailles, on Wednesday March 23, 2022 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.  A Blessing will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
