John A. Simmons

John A. Simmons, age 86, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon. An Army veteran, he retired as a manager for Shop N Save in Belle Vernon. He was a member of Buena Vista Fire Hall and enjoyed golfing and family vacations at the beach. Born April 6, 1938 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late John and Lucy (Eisel) Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gerry L. (Fischer) Simmons; daughters, Lisa (Mark) Mikula of Elizabeth and Michelle (Jim) Baynham of Bethel Park; son, John (Melissa) Simmons of Bethel Park; grandchildren, Kayla (Nate Bolias) Mikula, Matthew (Cayla Fraas) Mikula, Zachary  Simmons, Nick Baynham and CJ Baynham; sisters-in-law, Charlotte "Chuccie" Fischer of Belle Vernon and Valerie (Mark) Lanham of The Villages, FL; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Charlotte Greco. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 2 PM until the time of blessing at 6 PM with the Rev. Thomas J. Burke officiating. Military service will be Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 2 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
