John J. Sharpeta

John J. Sharpeta, age 77 of Eighty Four, died peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in the presence of his nephew, Damon Jones and his wife Niccole. A former Clairton resident, John was the son of the late John S. and Sophia A. (Wozniak) Sharpeta and was also preceded in death by his brother Eugene Sharpeta. John was a disabled US Army Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds suffered while on duty as an MP in Korea. He was a avid reader and outdoorsman who especially enjoyed taking care of his own home and grounds. John is survived by his sisters: Frances Jones and Jaqueline Sharpeta of, both of Clairton, and Cynthia (Tony) Sierra of Voorhees, NJ; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Blessing will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
