John F. Lazar

John F. "Jack" Lazar, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Manorcare Health Services - Whitehall. He was a retired crane operator for U.S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin. An Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton. Born October 7, 1931 in New Kensington, he was a son of the late John P. and Frances (Konieczny) Lazar. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene (Moxin) Lazar, whom he married June 11, 1953; daughter, Kathleen Sorton of Elizabeth Twp.; son, Daniel Lazar of Elizabeth; grandchildren, Larry Sorton of Scott Twp., Sarah (William) Smith of Elizabeth Twp. and Emily Sorton of Elizabeth Twp.; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Doug Lazar, Francie Lazar, Art Lazar; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 12 Noon until the time of Panachida at 2 PM with the Rev. Ivan Mina officiating. Private burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Clairton.
