Joan L. (Craighead) Mauritz

Joan L. (Craighead) Mauritz, age 91, of Glassport, passed away on July 30, 2026 at Overlook Green in Whitehall. She was a former teacher, homemaker, and a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish.  She enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family, going to church, and relaxing at her Whipkey Dam cabin. Born December 9, 1934, in Elizabeth, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (McClure) Craighead and wife of the late Edward A. Mauritz. She is survived by her daughters, Debora (Conrad) Shows of Sykesville, MD; Lisa (Terry) Bailey of Poca, WV and Kimberly (Robert) Novak of Glassport, PA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel J. Craighead. Friends will be welcomed in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, PA 15037 on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 6 -8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 10AM in St. Patrick’s Church, McKeesport. (EVERYONE, PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH) Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.
