James Robert Martin

James Robert Martin, age 74 of West Mifflin, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  Born April 4, 1947 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ann (Stupar) Martin.  He was a retired member of the US Army, serving at Forts Knox, Dix, Leonard-Wood, and in Germany and retiring as a First Sergeant.  After his service, he was a supervisor at the USPS bulk mail handling facility in Warrendale.  James was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish -St. Clare Church, Clairton, the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75, and VFW Post #803, both of Clairton.  He is survived by his wife Linda G. (Carozzo) Martin; his daughters Geanean M. (Don) Thompson of Jefferson Hills and Kristi A. Martin of Port Vue; his son James Robert (Miranda) Martin, Jr. of Elizabeth Twp; his grandchildren Brandon and Taylor  Szuhoza and Jacob, James III, and Aidan Martin; his brother Leonard Martin of Monroeville; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Richard Martin and his granddaughter-in-law Taylor Lynn Szuhoza.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10 AM in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare Church, Clairton.  Procession and burial will follow to Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.  Memorial contributions in James' name should be made to either the Save a Warrior (SAW) foundation at www.saveawarrior.org or to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinise.org.
