Hugh B. "Huey" Scurfield

Hugh B. “Huey” Scurfield, age 93 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Grandview Estates, Elizabeth Twp..  Born October 31, 1929 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Elmer B. and Margaret (Donnelly) Scurfield.  Huey was the last of the Scurfield brothers, being also preceded in death by his brothers Elmer “Bus,” Thomas “Top,” James, and Joseph Scurfield.  Huey was a retired electrician for US Steel, Clairton Works and also worked at the former Cross Ford, Clairton.  He was a parishioner of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish – St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clairton.  Huey is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruth Mae (Curry) Scurfield; his daughters Carol A. (the late Lemuel) Goodrum and Deborah L. (Jay) Jerome, both of Elizabeth; his four grandchildren: Tanya Mock, Kristie (Ryan) Goodrum-Powell, Jennifer (Adam) Cavalier, and Justin (Alexandra) Jerone; his eight great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Logan, Jaiden, Morgan, Domenic, Amelia, Jessie, and Josephina; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 2 PM until a 4 PM Blessing in the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Round Hill Cemetery at a later date convenient for the family.  Memorial contributions in Huey’s name should be made to Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, 1 Grove Pl., Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
