Gerard E. Price, age 79 of White Oak, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh. Born September 7, 1941 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Michael and Victoria McCarthy and the adoptive son of the late Helen and Mathis Price. A graduate of both Carrick High School and the University of Pittsburgh, Gerard served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, followed by service with both the US Army and US Air Force. He also graduated from both the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and FBI Academy in Quantico, VA and retired as a detective with the University of Pittsburgh Police Force. Gerard was a member of the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge # 221, Franklin/St. John's/Trinity as well. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Farmer) Price, his son Bryan (fiancee Melissa Horn) McCarthy of Versailles, and grandson Michael McCarthy. Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM with Masonic Services commencing at 7:30 PM. In order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10 AM with Rev. Bob Fagin officiating. Procession and burial with military honors will follow to Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
