Gerald K. "Gerry" Shaner, age 95 of Liberty Borough and formerly of both McKeesport and Las Vegas, NV, passed away at home on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Born March 22, 1928 in Scottdate, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Sisley) Shaner. A member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick's Church in McKeesport, Gerry retired as a nuclear engineer for Westinghouse Corp./ U.S. Department of Energy, West Mifflin and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the late Kathleen LaVerne (Whitney) Shaner, who passed away March 18, 2022, and his brother Quinton Shaner. Gerry is survived by his daughters Linda Lee Kenney of Louisville, KY, Cathy Jo (Denny) Burgman of Larimer, Debbie (Dennis) Caroselli of Las Vegas, NV, and Donna (John) Polakovic of White Oak; his sons Gerald (the late Debbie) Shaner of Las Vegas, NV, Ronald (Roberta) Shaner of Las Vegas, NV, and Robert Shaner of Bellevue, NE; his fourteen grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his sisters Carol Shaner of Lancaster and Ray Adair of Maryland; his brother Kevin (Ellie) Shaner of Clairton; and also nieces and nephews. Funeral visitation, services, and burial for Gerry were held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles.
