Gerald M. LaFrankie, age 81, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Elizabeth Borough, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a former coal miner and retired as an Allegheny County Park Manager at Round Hill Park in Elizabeth Twp. He was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish and former mayor of Elizabeth. He was a past president of Woman’s Place in McKeesport, former vice chairman of West-to-West Coalition and former vice president of the Pittsburgh District of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. Born May 22, 1943, in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late James J. and Virginia (Ackerman) LaFrankie. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Monica (Geletko) LaFrankie; daughters, Beth (David Lau) Konick of Rostraver Twp., Amy (Jason) Thomas of Elizabeth and Heather Stover of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Camden, Emma, Blake and Mason Stover, and Grace and Jack Konick; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Paulianna Martis, Theodora Terdine and Virginia Handley, and brother, James LaFrankie. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Church with Rev. William Terza officiating. Burial will follow in St. Clare Cemetery, Clairton.
