George S. Jacob

George S. Jacob, age 91, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living in Washington, PA, where he lived after residing many years in Clairton.  Born August 20, 1934 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John and Irene (Kovatch) Jakab.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Irene (Pimenova) Jacob, who passed away in January of 2010.  

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves, based out of Savannah, GA.  Following his military service, he dedicated more than 30 years to the U.S. Postal Service, retiring from the Clairton Post Office.  

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to family, and quiet strength.  

He is survived by his three children: Nina (Marty) Metzger of Delevan, NY, George (Anne Marie) Jacob of Eldersburg, MD, and Christine Peterson of Jefferson Hills; his four grandchildren: Shannon Metzger of Hagerstown, MD, Amanda Metzger of West Seneca, NY, Kristina (Gabe) Holcomb of Marietta, GA, and Rachael (Justin) Kieffer of Washington, PA; his four great-grandchildren Annabelle, Eli, and Lilly Holcomb and Thea Kieffer; his brother John "Ron" Jacob of Oregon; and many beloved nephews and great-nephews in Pennsylvania, California, and Oregon.  

In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers Andrew "Larry" Jakab of Romulus, MI, Dennis (Ellen) Jakub of Bend, OR, and many family members who welcomed him to eternal rest.  

George's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.  

Funeral arrangements for George are private at the request of the family and in the care of the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton.
