Gene Abernathy

Gene Abernathy, age 81, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Grandview Estates. He was a retired office clerk at Hercules in West Elizabeth and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth where he was the organist for the past 41 years. Gene always looked forward to and enjoyed luncheons with his close group of friends. Born July 15, 1939 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late John and Mabel (McCorkle) Abernathy. He is survived by nephews, a niece and close friends. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 11AM until the hour of service at 1PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Benjamin Schneider officiating. In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth, 411 South Third Avenue, Elizabeth, PA, 15037.
