Edward J. Lutz, age 83, of Baldwin, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at home. He was the founder and owner of Cold Comp in Pittsburgh and founder of the first computerized typesetting business in Pittsburgh in 1968. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church in Baldwin and served with the Army National Guard. Born June 24, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles and Agnes (Obringer) Lutz. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lynn A. (Jones) Lutz; daughter, Lori Auman of Jefferson Hills; sons, Michael (Heather) Lutz of Pleasant Hills and Matthew Lutz of Seven Fields; grandchildren, Cole, Preston and Ava Lutz, Brady and Laney Auman, and Kennedy and Tessa Lutz; brothers, Raymond (Mary Lou) Lutz of Baldwin and David (Janice) Lutz of Castle Shannon; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Katchmar and Charles Lutz. Fast Eddie embodied the definition of what it means to be a family man. He and Lynn never missed any of their grandkids’ sporting events or activities. Ed enjoyed spending time at the family farm, which he affectionately called Green Acres. He lovingly referred to his wife of 60 years as “my Bride”, who was and always will be his rock. A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 3-8 PM at the John F.
