Edgar Leo George

Edgar Leo George, age 89 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in Hempfield Manor Nursing Home, Greensburg.  Born May 17, 1931 in Pitcairn, he was a son of the late Arthur and Catherine (Bost) George.  A US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Edgar retired as the sales manager at Hillview Motors in Greensburg.  He was also a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael's Church, in Elizabeth Twp., it's Usher's Club where he served as a past-president, and the VFW of McKeesport, #8430.  Besides his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Irene (Golick) George, who passed away March 28, 2020, and his siblings: Eugene George, Ruth Lattimore, Alice Waltz, Marian Hines, and Rita Schmidt.  Edgar is survived by his sons James M. George of Elizabeth Twp., Steve L. (Diane) George of North Huntingdon, and Keith A. (Irene) George of Oakdale; his grandchildren Steven, Alexa, and Eyan George; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.  In order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines.  The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael's Church, with Fr. Thomas A. Wagner officiating.  Procession and burial will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Versailles.
