Doris Morris Obituary

Doris Elinor Morris, age 100 of McKeesport, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born January 9, 1924 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Lewis McClelland Barnes and Olga Gertrude Barnes.  The oldest member of Park Baptist Church in Versailles and its "matriarch," she was known as "Aunt Dory" to her fellow church members.  The church was the most important part of her week, both spiritually and socially.  Doris loved to play cards, especially Skip-Bo with her family. She was warm, loving, and loved by all.  She had also formerly worked at The Famous department store in downtown McKeesport, prior to the devastating McKeesport fire of 1976, and as a bookkeeper for the coal mine where her father-in-law was a foreman.  Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, the late James M. Morris, her son Gary Morris, her daughter Marilyn Stanesic, her granddaughter Carrie Swanson; and her six sisters and one brother.  She is survived by her daughter Sharon Victoria of Sunland, CA; her grandchildren Saffron Modes of McKeesport, Leigh (Todd) Daughenbaugh of Delaware, OH, and Beth Stanesic of Delaware, OH; her great-grandchildren Megan (Sterling) Modes and Jenn (Eddie) Lysen, Drew (Leslie) and Dylan Swanson, and Joshua (Mara) and Ryan Daughenbaugh; and her great-great-grandchild Griffin.  A Memorial Service will be in Park Baptist Church, Versailles, on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 12 Noon.  Arrangements by the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles.
