Charles H. Van Ryn, age 64 of Clairton, passed away on November 2, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital. Born December 22, 1955 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Harvey F., Jr. and Cynthia M. (Gambino) Van Ryn. He worked as a bargeman at U.S. Steel Clairton Works for 34 years and was a member of Clairton Sportsmen's Club, Clairton Auxiliary Police, Club 46, and loved spending time at his camp in Somerset with his best friends Bobby and Joy Gindlesperger. Charles is survived by his wife, Kimberly Lesko of Clairton; sisters Angela (Ken) Leonard of Buffalo, NY, Anita Van Ryn of Clairton, and Mary (Marty Altschaffle) Puckett of Charleroi; and nieces and nephews Benjamin, Katie, Allison, Charli (Ryan) Kuhn, and Luke. Friends will be received at the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 12 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 8PM. Masks are required; CDC and State guidelines will be observed; and social distancing will be enforced on funeral home property. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare Site, Clairton, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.
