Charles Joseph Emert

Charles Joseph Emert was born March 3, 1933 and passed on August 21, 2019 at Mt. Vernon of South Park. Chuck graduated from Central Catholic High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He also went to the University of Utah where he received a master’s degree in science. Chuck could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Periodic Table. He was a nuclear physicist at Bettis Atomic Power Lab where he built nuclear reactors for submarines. He retired in 2001 due to family complications. He spent his free time as a cantor at St. Isaac Jogues Church and was a photographer for their services like Communion and confirmations. He was an avid photographer, a great chef, and an astronomer. Chuck leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Mary Ann Emert, his stepchildren, step-grandchildren, nephews, and some close family friends. Visitation will be at the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth, on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 10 AM until the time of a blessing service at 11 AM with Fr. Bud Falkenhan officiating. Burial will be private.
