Thelma Jean Smitley

Thelma Jean Smitley, age 79, of Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette. A retired caretaker at Mount Vernon of Elizabeth, she enjoyed bowling, bingo, puzzles and crosswords. She also enjoyed baking zucchini bread, Christmas cookies and her famous pineapple cookies and distributing them to residents at the nursing home. Born October 21, 1939 in Reduction, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Blanche (Quinn) Smitley. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn Lenhart of Charlotte, NC; sons, David Neal of Charlotte, NC, and Keith (Tomicki) Neal of San Leandro, CA; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; also, siblings, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, John Slavena. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 2 PM until the time of service at 4 PM with Rev. Jude Urso officiating.
