Welcome to the memorial page for

Stephen Andrew Horvath

February 26, 1948 ~ February 9, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Stephen Andrew Horvath, age 68, of Solivita, Florida, formerly of East Liberty and West Mifflin, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 after a valiant battle with leukemia. Born February 26, 1948, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Kosnosky Horvath. Steve was the husband of Ginny McElhinny Horvath for nearly 47 years. He also leaves behind their children, Tracy Horvath Thornton (Bob) of Elizabeth Township and Scott Horvath (Cindy) of Jefferson Hills, and four beautiful  grandchildren, Alex, Stephanie and Bradley Thornton and Andy Horvath. He is also survived by siblings, Sr. Andrew Mary Horvath, a sister of Charity of Seton Hill, and Andy (Bumsy) Horvath of McKeesport; and also several brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was a retired District Sales Manager of Discover Financial Services and a Walt Disney World bus driver.  An avid sports enthusiast, Steve especially enjoyed the Pirates, Steelers, Penn State and most recently, Pitt, as two of his grandchildren are students there. Having moved to Florida in 2004, and living in the 55+ community of Solivita, it gave Steve and Ginny seven years of truly enjoying their retirement, experiencing all sorts of activities and friendship with other people of their own age. Steve and Ginny loved to travel and, having been a first-generation American, Steve found some of his family roots in Kosice, Slovakia in 2013. Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 2-8 PM at the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Michael Parish with Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either: Make-a-Wish of Western Pennsylvania 707 Grant Street, Gulf Tower 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or the American Cancer Society, Attn: Relay for Life of Solivita, 1920 South Florida Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33803.
