Robert W. Holmes, Sr.

Robert W. Holmes, Sr., age 88, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth Twp. He was a retired supermarket director at Giant Eagle and A&P and a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church. He loved to hunt, fish and had a passion for mechanics. Born October 22, 1929 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Grant and Bessie (Breegle) Holmes. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen (Kormos) Holmes; daughter, Sheryl (John) Haseleu of Elizabeth Twp.; son, Robert W. (Nikki) Holmes, Jr. of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Zowacki of North Huntingdon, Brittany Holmes of New York, NY, Stacey Haseleu of Elizabeth Twp., Chelsea Holmes of Pittsburgh and Collin Holmes of Eighty-Four; great grandchildren, Caitlin and Ethan Zowacki; sisters, Darlene Roberts of Elizabeth Twp. and Elaine Cartmel of Ohio; also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Holmes. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2-7 PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jack H. Piper officiating. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
