Margaret P. Telega, age 100 and a lifelong resident of Clairton, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Troy, NY on Monday, March 19, 2018. Born December 1, 1917 in Large, to the late John and Eva (D’Abbodanza) Palumbo. Margaret is a retired Milliner for K-Mart in Pleasant Hills and a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton. She was a 1936 graduate of Clairton High School and also worked at the Woodland Terrace rental office and U.S. Steel Clairton Works during World War II. Margaret loved bowling, gardening and volunteered at the former St. Clare Parish School. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Stanley A. Telega and siblings Ann Ricci, Mary DellaValle, Phoebe Palumbo, Jeanne M. Bencivenga, Freda Moorhouse and Dominic Palumbo. She is survived by her children Jon J. (Karen Shurgot) Telega of Monroeville, Stanley “Lee” (Maret T. Brown) Telega of Troy, NY, and Bruce A. Telega of North Huntingdon; her sisters Sophie Kopchinski of Jefferson Hills and Lorraine Barco of Finleyville; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the A. J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4 PM until 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
