Irene (Lomis) Helman

Irene (Lomis) Helman, age 91 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Jefferson Hospital.  Born August 14, 1927 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late John and Suzanne (Majer) Lomis.  She obtained an Associate’s Degree from C.C.A.C., was a retired medical assistant for Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, was the former secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Clairton, and a long time member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  She was a member of Wilson Presbyterian Church in Clairton.  Irene was also the caregiver for her nephew James Lomis.  She joins her husband, the late Ralph J. Helman Sr..  Irene is survived by her children Diane (Richard) Lapinski of Belle Vernon, Debbie (Tom Hubbell) Caley of Finleyville, Barbara (Mark) Yantek of Blue Bell, Catherine (Edward) Demchak of Clairton, Ralph J. (Gloria) Helman, Jr. of Clairton, Gary (Georgann) Helman of Baldwin, and Dennis Helman of Clairton; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her five siblings.  A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11 AM officiated by Pastor Ben Robinson at the Wilson Presbyterian Church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Mon Yough Special Olypics, Washington County, 104 Summit Circle, Houston, PA 15342.  Arrangements by the A.J.
