Gerry C. Cope, age 75 of Clairton, took his last breath at 10:24 AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at his home. He was an electronic technician for U.S Steel, Clairton Works for 39 years. Gerry was also a Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, a former teacher of hairdressing and a hairdresser at John Cesko's in McKeesport, a former DJ at Charley J's in North Versailles for 16 years, sang in the doo-wop group The BelAirs, was a Mason in Chapter #162, and a member of the Knights Templar. Born October 8, 1944 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Charles H., Jr. and Jenny (Gladkowski) Cope. Gerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Alice (Lloyd) Cope; daughter Laurie (James Bayto) Stonick of Clairton; son Gerry C. (Barbara Payo) Cope, Jr. of Clairton; grandchildren Gerry C., III, Christopher, Dylan, Jayden, Jackson, and Aria Cope, and Thomas and Tyler Deliman; brothers Jay (Sharon) Cope of North Carolina and Wayne (Pam) Kucich of White Oak; 2 sister-in-laws Jackie L. (Dennis) Koscielski and Abbie E. (Gerald) Cunhi; brother-in-law John A. (Jennifer Graziano) Lloyd; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A funeral service will take place at 1:30 PM with Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
