Ellinora M. (Bendel) Custer

Ellinora M. (Bendel) Custer, age 96, of Belle Vernon, and formerly of Floreffe, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at home. She was a member of Elizabeth Wesleyan Church in Elizabeth and the Forever Young Senior Citizens Group in Finleyville. When her children were young, she was an active parent for the West Jefferson Hills School District. Born November 16, 1921 in Floreffe, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Susanna (Balla) Bendel and wife of the late Clifford F. Custer Sr. She is survived by stepsons, Clifford F. (Marguerite) Custer of Oakdale and Robert Lee (the late Ayako) Custer of Monongahela; children, Ellen M. (Robert) Kennedy of Floreffe, Roy A. (Connie) Custer of Finleyville, Cora L. (Clarence) Brown of Bridgeport, MI, and Mark J. Custer of Belle Vernon; 11 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; also, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Vidil, Susanna Jenkins, Anna Marie Taylor, Olyce Elliott, Lucille Dusi, Mabel Hamilton, and Jacob, Charles and David Bendel. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roy A. Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elizabeth Wesleyan Church, 205 Church Street, Elizabeth, PA 15037.
