Betty M. (Malmgren) Barella

Betty M. Barella, age 95 of Rostraver Twp., passed away at home on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  Born February 3, 1923 in Roscoe, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Teresa (Lucas) Malmgren.  The co-owner and bookkeeper of the former Barella's Lounge in Jefferson Hills, Betty also worked as a seamstress and payroll clerk for the US Army during World War II.  In her spare time, she was an avid reader and loved going to her place in the mountains, but her family will remember her most as a strong and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Betty joins her husband of 62 years, the late William E. Barella, Sr., who passed away October 26, 2010.  She is survived by her children Marianne (Allan) Green and William E. (Virginia) Barella, Jr., both of Rostraver Twp.; her grandchildren Shane (Rebekah) Green, Sunny (Dave) Davis, and Dante and Dakota Barella; her great-grandchildren Landon and Marlee Davis and Isabella Green; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10 AM with Pastor Brent Furlong officiating.  Procession and burial will follow to Mon Valley Memorial Park, Carroll Twp.
