Ada M. (Ginestra) DiMattia

Ada M. DiMattia, age 101 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017.  Born October 16, 1915 in Vallecupa, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Fioravanti and Ida (Santilli) Ginestra.  Ada was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and the Sons of Columbus, Regina Della Valle #40.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Emilio DiMattia, who passed away in 1955; her two daughters Anna (Jack) Matz and Josephine (Frank) Scarsella; and her brothers Ettore, Ugo and Licurgo Ginestra.  Ada is survived by her daughters Dea (Robert) Bonacchi and Ida (the late George) Ward, both of Clairton; her son Domenic (Joanne) DiMattia of Jefferson Hills; her grandchildren Bruno Bonacchi, Sean Ward, Cristina Cercone, Emily Jo McCowan, Shannon Matz, Dino and Anthony Scarsella, and Elisa Bayiates; her great-grandchildren Mary, John, Lucia, Daniel, Ian, Giovanna, Mario, Valory, Enzo, Nico and Valentino; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Parish.  Procession and burial to follow to St. Clare Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Ada's name should be made to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232, and Ada's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Jefferson Hills Manor for their wonderful care for Ada over her years there.
