Outer Burial Containers

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy an outer burial container, also called a vault, to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so the grave will hold its integrity and not begin to sink. All of the following outer burial containers will satisfy these requirements.

Metal

Graveliner - Minimum metal graveliner.

12 Gauge Galvanized - 12 Gauge steel vault, seals on diving bell principle, coated with approximately 25 lbs. of molten zinc for rust resistance, weighs approximately 435 lbs., statuary brown finish.
10 Gauge Galvanized - 10 Gauge steel vault, seals on diving bell principle, coated with approximately 25-35 lbs. of molten zinc for rust resistance, weighs approximately 535 lbs., silver finish.
7 Gauge Galvanized - 7 Gauge steel vault, extra heavy specially processed steel, seals on diving bell principle, coated with approximately 35 lbs. of molten zinc for rust resistance, weighs over 700 lbs., statuary brown finish.
Stainless Steel - 12 Gauge stainless steel vault made of type 304 stainless steel with 18% chromium and 8% nickel content for premium rust resistance, over four pounds of stainless steel per square foot, seals on diving bell principle, weighs approximately 425 lbs., rose finish featuring brushed panels and bands on the sides and ends.
Solid Copper - 12 Gauge solid copper vault, copper is rust proof for maximum protection, seals on diving bell principle, weighs approximately 575 lbs., copper’s natural beauty is accented by brushed side panels, ends and an attractive band around the top.
