Identification Viewing

Cremation is a unique method of disposition. After a cremation has occurred, the person is reduced to his or her bare elements. In other words, all that’s left of a person are his or her cremated remains, or, ashes.

As such, it is very important for Bekavac Funeral Homes to ensure the correct identification of your loved one for both your peace of mind and for ours. Therefore, we offer an option for the person to be positively identified by the person with the right of disposition before we perform a direct cremation. This is usually the next-of-kin, or “nearest and dearest”.

For the convenience of the families we serve, the practice of identification can take place in the funeral home or in the family’s residence and can be done by personally viewing the deceased, viewing a photograph of the deceased or waiving the need of identification by the person with the right of disposition.

The identification process also provides an opportunity for a private, informal goodbye for those families not interested in a traditional viewing, service and burial. This option is most beneficial because it allows the family up to one hour of viewing of their loved one following technical preparation, cleansing and dressing by our professional staff. This transformation from the time of death to the time of the private, informal goodbye provides families the closure of a traditional viewing without the associated costs.

Regardless of the decisions made by the family, Bekavac Funeral Homes guarantee that all services will be handled with the utmost dignity and respect.
