William P. Thornton

William P. Thornton, age 85, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Locust Grove. He was a utilities analyst for U.S. Steel National Tube in McKeesport and a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. Born November 26, 1931 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late John R. and Ella Mae (O'Connor) Thornton and husband of the late Carolyn Jean (Ondo)Thornton. He is survived by daughters, Sharon Pici of Malvern, PA, and Barbara (Rick) Opatick of Columbia, MD; sons, William M. (Teresa) Thornton of Baltimore, MD, and Robert (Tracy) Thornton of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Laura, Lisa, Timothy, Kathryn, Lauren, Kristine, Andrew, Emily, Alex, Stephanie, and Brad; great-grandchildren, Dean, Duncan, Dax, Isak, Gus, Bella, and Marianna; sister, Carol Ann (Dan) Feruck of Atlanta, GA; brother, Edward (Carol) Thornton of Forward Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, John "Bernie" and Richard Thornton. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2-4 and  6-8 PM. A Rosary Service will take place at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:30 AM in St. Michael Parish with Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Parish, 101 McLay Drive, Elizabeth, PA 15037.
