LaVerne (Moore) Briggs

LaVerne (Moore) Briggs, age 93, of Clairton, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at home. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School, a retired Count Team member for J.C. Penney and a member of the Monday Bowling League. Born December 5, 1923 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late John and Hazel (Brown) Moore and wife of the late Ralph H. Briggs. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Mathers of Clairton; sons, Curt (Mary) Briggs of Elizabeth and Larry (Sharon) Briggs of Carroll Twp.; grandchildren, Robert (Jessica Henry) Mathers of Wexford, Sonja (Tim) Sailor of Mt. Washington, Kelly Buchleitner of Port Vue, Chad (Jackie) Mathers of Rostraver, Lisa (George) Fleagle of Pulaski Twp., Heather (Mike) Morris of Elizabeth Twp., Shane (Jen) Briggs of Forward Twp., Jade (Lindsey) Briggs of Indian Land, SC, Lindsey Briggs of Greentree, Corey (Kaitlyn Davidson) Briggs of Mechanicsburg, and Dustin (Marissa Fouser) Briggs of Elizabeth; 10 great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Moore. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Monday, October 23, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
