Julia (Zaken) Spernak

Julia (Zaken) Spernak, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at home. She was a retired school bus driver for Laidlaw. She was a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and a former member of Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play cards. Born August 19, 1927 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Zaken) Zaken and wife of the late Victor Spernak. She is survived by her sons, Dennis "Fuzzy" (Terry) Spernak of Mt. Lebanon, Joseph Spernak, Victor Spernak of Blaine Hill, and Ron "Flat" Spernak of Forward Twp.; sisters, Janet Rethage of Elizabeth Twp. and Anna May Janicki of Ormand Beach, FL; devoted granddaughters, Stephanie, Ashley and Emily Spernak; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6-8 PM and Friday, June 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 9:30 AM in St. Michael Parish with Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela.
