John Edward Karnack, Sr.

John Edward Karnack, Sr., age 96, of Jefferson Hills, passed peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2017. Beloved husband of Bonnie (Barr) Karnack.  Also survived by daughters Maria (late Daniel) Kovack, Michele (Kevin) Mannella, sons Kenneth and Kevin (Jane Mallin) Karnack; grandchildren Daniel Kovack, Sue Schultheis, Johnny, AJ, and Matthew Karnack. Preceded in death by wife Lillian (Bartoli) and son John, Jr. He was a longtime member of both the Anglers Club of Clairton and the Clairton American Legion Post 75. A veteran of the US Army Air Corps, he trained as a dental technician and continued in that trade for 68 years.  The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to his Comfort Keepers caregiver Sara Majetic, Interim Healthcare and nurse Ruona Nicola, Jefferson Regional Medical Center Staff, the Veterans Administration, and the Humanity Gifts Registry.  Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Clare of Assisi Church, 460 Reed St., Clairton, PA 15025 on June 29 at 4:00 PM. To honor John's love of life, the family plans to place a memorial and beautification project at the Anglers Club of Clairton, his "slice of heaven on earth". In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Service or the Anglers Club of Clairton through his daughter, Michele Mannella, 2451 Leis Ln., Bethel Park, PA 15102.
