Jimmy Ray Sturkie

Jimmy Ray Sturkie, age 73 and formerly of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Southwestern Nursing Center in West Mifflin.  Born March 24, 1944 in Swansea, SC, he was a son of the late Eugene and Lucille (Stabler) Sturkie.  A former carpenter, Jimmy Ray joins his wife, the late Sherry (Hager) Sturkie who passed away March 19, 2005.  He is survived by his children Jimmy Ray Sturkie, Jr. of Carnegie, Kelly (Dan) Deabner of Jefferson Hills, and Mellany (Steven) Risha of West Mifflin; his grandchildren Justin Sturkie and Daniel B. Deabner, Jr.; his siblings Bobby (Royce) Cassidy of Swansea, SC, Bill (Claire) Sturkie of White Oak, and Rudy and Johnny (Ruby) Sturkie of Swansea, SC; and also nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 AM with Pastor James D. Crosby officiating.  Procession and interment will follow to Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.  Memorial contributions in Jimmy Ray's name should be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste. E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
