Helen Louise (Hayden) Bickerton

Helen Louise (Hayden) Bickerton, age 96, of Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at UPMC Mercy. She retired after 19 years as an executive secretary for Westinghouse at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin. She was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Elizabeth where she was the church secretary in the 1960s. She was also a bank teller in Elizabeth. Born August 1, 1921 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Nora (Weichel) Hayden and wife of the late Kenneth L. Bickerton. She is survived by sons, Robert H. (Jennie) Bickerton of Charleston, SC, and John K. (Joan) Bickerton, MD, of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Marie (John) Phillips. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 5-7:30 PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack H. Piper officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 317 Second Avenue, Elizabeth, PA 15037.
