Eugene W. Heintz, age 91 of McKeesport, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Riverside Nursing Center. Born November 15, 1925 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Vankirk and Rachel Campbell. A member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport, Eugene was a US Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, serving as an air traffic controller in the South Pacific and also in Korea. He retired in 1985 as a freight agent for CSX Railroad and was a member of both LifeSpan and the 11th. Ward Welfare Association. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn (Kalina) Heintz, who passed away April 25, 2014, and a great-grandson Karson Heintz. Eugene is survived by his sons Eugene K. (Lora) Heintz of Elizabeth Twp. and Michael Heintz of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchldren Melissa McClain and Jerad and Amy Heintz; his great-grandchildren Kaelyn, Madelyn, Karoline, and Kaci; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, Versailles, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM with a 4 PM Parastas Service. A Blessing will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 AM in St. Nicholas Church, McKeesport, with Fr. Donald Voss officiating. Procession and burial with military honors will follow to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
